Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Another highly recommended spot that is only open for a few hours a day with a limited amount of donuts, so I had high hopes but Iβm afraid to say it was absolute garbage. I got an apple fritter which looked great however after biting into I could see appearances can be deceiving. The inside wasnβt soft at all and was just like dense bread. The icing has no crunch to it and I donβt think there was any actual apple in it whatsoever. Probably one of the worst I have and Iβm amazed for a place that is barely open to produce so a low quality of product.

Their coffee was better that I expected! Strong, but not bitter and did not punch you in the jaw. The donuts were good, too.

Donut Vault was so good. I got the gingerbread stack and the old fashioned, and both were great, but the gingerbread stacks are where itβs at. The old fashioned was delicious, even if the frosting flakes everywhere. But honestly, youβre too busy eating it to care. The gingerbread stack was the standout: covered in cinnamon sugar, super fluffy, and basically a perfect donut. Definitely worth stopping for.

After living there for a couple years, I miss this place the most. DV became my favorite doughnut spot in the city & I tried all the big names. Not the biggest menu of donuts, but definitely the most consistent quality, size, and creativity of classics that I ALWAYS loved. My all time fav is their Pistachio Old Fashioned (pictured). I love their variety of unique ones that go through outside their handful of standards. I've tried them all - and I have loved them all. I've never felt like MEH about any of their donuts. And they have really great & reasonable priced coffee to go with it (used to be Big Shoulder, not sure who now). Only outdoor seating & when they are sold out - they close. AMAZING.

To preface, I am not a cake donut person. However, Doughnut Vault's is so highly regarded that I was hoping for my mind to be changed. Maybe I have been getting them at the wrong places. Well, I'm a bit sad to say that's not the case. Apart from the texture of a cake donut that I already am not a big fan of, my pistachio donut also tasted overwhelmingly like old oil. I would like to come back and try their yeast donuts but am not very optimistic about them not tasting like old oil now.
